A week in college

29-09-24

About a week has passed since I moved into college dorms. First day was quite rough, given I have just settled in, and didn't know anyone around me. But I didn't present myself as a shut-in just yet, more like an introvert or someone who doesn't really have a lot of friends. Second day, practically on a whim, I walked 2 hours to the nearest thrift shop, even though buses here run pretty often. I didn't find anything of value there, so I just bused back home and spent the day exploring the campus. Third day, don't quite remember what I did, but my roommate brought a friend over, and I got a chance to meet more people.

I think it was day 4 when everything changed, classes started. My horrible sleep schedule that I kept consistent over the summer practically vanished, and I was able to wake up at 7am every* day without trouble. Later in the day, I've learned that a CS class I'm taking is extremely easy and mundane, as it goes over html/css over an entire quarter. Purely taking this for credits, maybe a tiny bit of new information. Who knows, maybe one day description lists will help me in life.

Fourth day was also when my roommate's friends introduced me to Pokemon TCG, leading me to get invested in something I didn't know about before, and meeting even more people. It hasn't even been a week since then, but I'm yearning for another game.

Fifth day, no classes until 4pm, decided to sleep in and visit the thrift store again. Bought a Kindle for $10, which is a steal, as it's a multiple generation upgrade over my older Kindle, still pretty proud of that. Had my first cybersecurity-focused lecture, which left me a tiny bit disappointed, but it's only a 1 credit class, so I should've expected that.

Sixth and seventh days, pretty boring, I've already memorized where my classes are, nothing of value happened.

On the eighth day (today) I bought my first ever Pokemon deck. The guy at the store was super nice, helped me pick out beginner friendly deck/sleeves/box, and was generally really nice. He also suggested that I come play with other people on some days, kind of meet new people around here.

Mentioning the elephant in the room and apologizing to no one:

I'm really sorry there haven't been any meaningful updates to the blog since May. Just haven't had the chance to sit down and write something down. Can't make any promises, but I'll try my best to write more whenever I have free time (never).
